I'm tired

This weekend has been so crazy and long. I didn’t get to all of my ‘to-dos’, which makes me a little sad. We had rehearsal and performance of our G.I.R.L. skit, I took photos and marketing for a play and work- sort of. So yeah…I was debating about whether to go to sleep or continue working. It’s a tough decision for me because I ♥ my sleep, but I also ♥ my work- it seems like I have to sacrifice one for the other at times…IDK…I hope this week runs more smoothly…actually, I guess I should say this week will run more smoothly.

Thoughts...

I was thinking about dream killers today. Ironically (in my opinion), I get more encouragement from my friends/followers than from my family. It seems like they think what I do is dumb or not a real job. And it really grinds my gears to say the least.

I try not to stay in the presence of dream killers because negativity breeds more negativity breeds more negativity and then there I will be, really considering quitting to do what I love.

Which brings me to something else…I’m still feeling pressured to get a part-time job. I mean, it’s not that I don’t really want one. I do because I could really use the extra money, but I am of the mindset that wherever you focus your energy that’s what will be successful. So, I’d rather focus my energy on expanding my business than on finding a part-time job. And it’s really difficult to find work here because I live in a small town and my car is not the greatest. (FYI, I’m not complaining- I’m just saying).

Anyway, yeah…that’s what I was thinking about today…

Balance

Balancing everything you have to do is hard. And for me, it’s hard to balance work because I have like four things going on:

Mocha Writer-the business writing side
The magazine writing side
Mocha Writer- the blog
for colored gurls

This is in addition to all the other things going on in my life. At times, it’s hard for me to know what exactly to focus on and how much time to spend on each thing. I know that wherever you focus most, that’s where the results will be. But how do I decide? Do I just pick one thing? Do I divide it evenly? AAAHHHH I don’t know. First, I tried dividing it in days: for instance, Monday- focus on magazine writing, Tuesday- for colored gurls, etc. That didn’t really work because something else might come up or…yeah. Now I try to prioritize what’s most important, but it seems as if something is always lacking…

I don’t know. But I ~~hopefully~~ will figure it out soon. Any suggestions?

Beauty

So, this week was a bit rough. I’ve been having sinus issues, so my appearance had somewhat fallen by the wayside (in my opinion)- meaning my eyebrows looked like Oscar the Grouch’s except not a unibrow. And my nails were ugh…

Anyway, as I was (and still am) doing my nails and stuff today, I started thinking…does it all really matter? Why does it matter if my nails are perfectly polished or my eyebrows perfectly arched? I guess it matters to me because a) I really don’t like going anywhere looking less than decent (I will put on a little eye makeup and “real” clothes to get one item from Walmart); and b) I guess, to me, how you look says a little something about who you are…if that makes sense. I mean, I make preconceived notions about people based on what they are wearing sometimes (not that it’s right), and I’m sure many others do it, too. So, I want to look well put-together when I go somewhere. And there’s nothing wrong with that- in my opinion.

Because, really, there is NO excuse for chipped nail polish…

AAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’ve been under the weather, and that means I haven’t felt like doing much of anything. I haven’t worked out in like almost two weeks, and I feel like work is piling up…

As I go on with my daily routine of writing, blogging, looking for work and all that good stuff, I get somewhat discouraged because at times I feel like I’m getting nowhere fast. I mean, it obviously takes time to get established when starting your own business and being a freelancer, and I’ve only been doing this for about a year.

Anyway, I thought about this quote today, and I’m really trying to get this in my head and stop stressing about it so much. Very rarely is anyone an overnight success, and if he/she is, it generally doesn’t last long. I want my career to last as long as I choose to work, so I have to practive the two p’s: Patience & Persistence. It gets difficult at times when it seems that others are getting more successful in shorter periods of time, but I’m realizing that a) I am not them, and b)Success is different for everyone. For some, it’s money, cars, material things, but for me, I want to be happy, do what I love and live a comfortable life. I don’t really want to make all this money…

I guess I say all this to say I’m gonna keep hustlin’ until I get to the top = )
