My life = Mission: Fabulosity
The woman behind ForColoredGurls.com and Mocha Writer.
This is a collection of my goals, dreams, thoughts and opinions- my life. I'm on a mission to be the best version of me!
Every week, I go around and read blogs. It’s a way of supporting other bloggers and networking. I came across a post on Peace, Love & Pretty Things about jealousy. It talked about how jealousy is a blind and wasteful emotion and how it stems from our lack of self-worth.
Ouch was how I felt after reading that because she has a point; I’d just never thought of it that way before. If you’ve read some of my posts [here or elsewhere], you probably know that I sometimes struggle with being envious of others’ success. It’s like I know success and all the other good stuff takes time to get here, but it’s hard to actually deal with sometimes day-to-day.
The author ends with this quote from Jennifer James:
“Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it’s a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.”
I’m a work-in-progress so I’m still working on it…
